It has been my pleasure to serve as founding Director of the Independent School Consortium of Greater Philadelphia. We were established in 1994 with five committed schools and have grown to become a fully self supporting entity. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with many talented teachers and administrators and assisting with candidate placement in the schools that comprise the Consortium.

Joining me in this endeavor as Program Associate is Melissa R. Parker. She brings a wealth of personal experience in independent schools to the work. Melissa
has taught in several independent schools, is a graduate of an independent school, and has been an active parent in independent schools. In addition, she has worked for organizations, such as TransAfrica, where she has made an impact on the larger community. She brings great value and knowledge to ISC.

The Independent School Consortium (ISC) of Greater Philadelphia was established in 1994 with a grant from DeWitt-Wallace Readers Digest to promote faculty diversity at several Philadelphia area independent schools.

The mission of the Consortium is to create a connection with individual candidates so that we can provide member schools with diverse and talented applicants for positions that are available in their schools. Once hired, the Consortium serves as a strong network for faculty and administrators of color across member schools.

Over the years the number of independent schools using this service has increased from 5 to over 20. The ISC member schools are located in Philadelphia (and surrounding counties), New Jersey, and Delaware. These are schools that value the richness of diverse communities. Through the years we have placed numerous teachers and administrators of color in area schools.
